Set in New Orleans, Sol duMont is a hotel mogul, who, after a series of losses and set-backs, is losing himself in debauchery. Until, that is, the heiress Arianna "Rain" Barrington checks into his hotel, fleeing scandal at home. The two collide, and sparks begin to fly.


Writing as Thea de Salle, Monahan writes contemporary erotic romance for a modern audience, providing stories with characters of diverse backgrounds. The King of Bourbon street focuses on a plus-sized main character, a bisexual love interest, and assorted characters from various cultural backgrounds. The title is the first in the NOLA Nights series, which subsequent books focus on other characters in Sol and Rain's lives, as the various lives and plotlines circle and intermingle amonst one another.
